Acerola cherries

One of the highest natural sources of vitamin C (20 times the amount in oranges, by weight), which aids collagen formation, helps growth and repair of tissue, promotes healing of wounds and protects against harmful effects of pollution.

Agave nectar

Low Glycaemix Index natural sweetener extracted from cactus-like plant. Mild flavour a bit like honey, but much sweeter.

Aloe vera

Gel obtained from leaf of aloe plant, native to Africa. Heals the colon, has an alkalising effect on the digestive system and supports the immune system. Used to treat wounds.

Barley grass

Very high in organic sodium which aids digestion, antioxidants which protect against ageing and chlorophyll (liquid oxygenated sunshine), a natural detoxifier that rids the intestines of stored toxins.

Bee pollen

Said to be Nature’s most complete food, containing all amino acids (making it a very rich source of protein). One of the finest forms of bio-available energy, used by world class athletes. High in B vitamins, minerals and trace micro nutrients. Boosts the immune system and is used for combating fatigue and depression.

Blue green algae

Also known as AFA. Simple micro algae that is easily digested and absorbed. Excellent source of protein and chlorophyll

Cacao

Cacao tree grows in South America with fruit pods that ripen yellow to orange. The pod contains 20 to 60 seeds, usually called "beans", embedded in a white pulp. Each seed contains a significant amount of fat (40–50% as cacao butter). Scientific name Theobroma means "food of the gods". Beans were used as currency by Aztecs. One of the best sources of anti oxidants and high in magnesium. Chocolate is made from cacao (but usually white sugar, milk, saturated fats or hydrogenated oils are added in the process).

Chlorella

Single-celled tiny algae that grows in fresh water. Also found in dark green leafy vegetables. Contains digestive enzymes, unique growth factor that stimulates healing and replacement of cell tissue and antioxidants and DNA and RNA that are all anti ageing. Has the highest chlorophyll content of any plant in the world, which means it has many beneficial effects on cardiovascular and immune systems. Excellent detox aid because indigestible outer shell binds with heavy metals and other toxins in the body and removes them – effective taken with spirulina.

Coconut water

Found in the core of young green coconuts (not to be confused with coconut milk). As coconut matures water largely becomes absorbed into nut's flesh. Known as fluid of life because contains same electrolyte balance as blood. Also high in potassium and other alkalising minerals.

Flax oil

Contains a high proportion of omega 3 essential fatty acids (most likely EFA deficiency for those eating a typical Western diet).

Ginkgo biloba

Hardy ornamental tree native to Asia. Chinese name for “silver apricot”. Two-lobed (“biloba”) leaves are used to make remedy that improves blood flow to the brain, blood vessels and most tissues and organs, prevents cell damage from free radicals because of its potent anti oxidants and inhibits effects of substances that contribute to immune and inflammatory disorders.

Ginseng

Means “man-root” in Chinese because its parsnip-like root often grows in the shape of a man. Has been used for centuries in Asian medicine as an aphrodisiac, a tonic for well-being, and a curative. Can increase libido and sexual performance, possibly due to effect on central nervous system.

Goji berries

Also known as Chinese wolfberries. Extremely nutrient dense fruit containing all 8 essential amino acids. Very high in vitamin C and highest content of beta carotene amongst all foods on earth (beta carotene can be transformed into vitamin A, important for the normal structure and function of skin). Powerful anti oxidant rich food, thought to both prevent and reverse free radical damage. Also supports the immune system and healthy liver function.

Guarana

A large leaved plant common in Brazil. Produces fruit, the seeds of which are a natural stimulant equivalent to caffeine (so should not be consumed to excess). Combats fatigue, increases energy and aids concentration.

Hemp protein

Made from hemp seeds. Very high quality protein. Contains no saturated fats or cholesterol.

Maca

Turnip like vegetable that grows high up in the Peruvian Andes, where soils are extremely rich in minerals. To Andean Indians, organic maca is a highly valuable commodity. Extraordinary content of trace minerals. Contains substances proven in scientific investigation to nourish the endocrine glands, including the reproductive system of men and women. An “adaptogen” that helps the body adapt to stress, returning a dysfunctional system back to normal. Spirulina

Micro algae that is exceptionally high in usable, complete protein (contains all essential amino acids). Rich in essential fatty acids, beta carotene (can be transformed into vitamin A, important for the normal structure and function of skin) and B vitamins. Can help to regulate blood sugar levels and encourages release of toxins from cells – best taken with chlorella.

Stevia

A native shrub originally found growing wild in highlands of Paraguay. Has been used for over 1500 years by native Guarani Indians. Leaf contains numerous phytonutrients and trace minerals.
